

Mimi Rojo Laurilla, PhD is an alumna of DLSU-Manila. Mimi was former associate professor at the Department of English and Applied Linguistics (DEAL) BAG College of Education. Aside from teaching, she also served in various roles such as Vice Chair, Chair and Graduate Program Coordinator of the Department. Her research interests include sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, computer mediated communication and second language acquisition.
After her stint in the academia, she migrated to New Zealand and decided to enter a non-teaching career. She moved into an administration role within the health sector working for one of the biggest hospitals in New Zealand working alongside top management positions. She also helped set up and lead a not-for-profit charitable organisation assisting migrants in need, serving as its Board Secretary and Executive Officer in Wellington. In 2013, the family moved overseas again when she found a new job working as Program Coordinator for a social purpose organisation in Australia specialising in disability support and aged care where she trains and supports people with disabilities who want to be public speakers, whilst coordinating a small gardening enterprise also for people with disabilities.
Outside of her day job, she is a writer, an e-course creator and online mentor, a piano teacher, an English tutor, and currently preparing to publish her very own line of children’s books.
