Effective
Interpersonal Communication is one of the keys to succeed in the workplace.
Even in a school set up teachers are expected to be effective communicators
through the way they deal with their students, their colleagues and even the
parents and other stakeholders in the community. It can cause some pressures if
the teacher is perceived differently or in the wrong way. Teacher who train
others will also benefit from this course.
Mimi Rojo Laurilla, PhD is an alumna of
DLSU-Manila. Mimi was former associate professor at the Department of English
and Applied Linguistics (DEAL) BAG College of Education. Aside from teaching,
she also served in various roles such as Vice Chair, Chair and Graduate Program
Coordinator of the Department. Her research interests include sociolinguistics,
discourse analysis, computer mediated communication and second language
acquisition.
After her stint in the academia, she migrated
to New Zealand and decided to enter a non-teaching career. She moved into an administration
role within the health sector working for one of the biggest hospitals in New
Zealand working alongside top management positions. She also helped set up and
lead a not-for-profit charitable organisation assisting migrants in need,
serving as its Board Secretary and Executive Officer in Wellington. In 2013, the family moved overseas again when
she found a new job working as Program Coordinator for a social purpose organisation
in Australia specialising in disability support and aged care where she trains
and supports people with disabilities who want to be public speakers, whilst
coordinating a small gardening enterprise also for people with disabilities.
Outside of her day job, she is a
writer, an e-course creator and online mentor, a piano teacher, an English
tutor, and currently preparing to publish her very own line of children’s
books.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to create a course?
